The much acclaimed Monroe Girls Drum and Bugle Corps has been a source of pride for the city since the Corps’ inception in 1949 – and in 2013 the city will pay tribute to it again.
The theme for this year’s Christmas Parade in downtown Monroe is “Christmas Through the Ages,” and the Monroe Girls Drum and Bugle Corps will be the grand marshal. The idea is to invoke memories of Christmases past.
Monroe Downtown is asking that participants get into the spirit of the theme, perhaps by digging through old photos and looking back at trends from years gone by.
“Let’s revisit all of the images that Christmastime brings up…. baking cookies, sitting by the fire, reading the Christmas Story, holiday parties, decorating the tree, caroling…whatever your family traditions may have been over the years, we want you to bring that into this holiday season through our Downtown Monroe Christmas Parade.”
