Wreck in Monroe results in injury, charges

A wreck at about 4 p.m. on Oct. 23 on Mountain Creek Church Road at Gratis Road in Monroe resulted in injuries to a Monroe man. A spokesman with the Georgia State Patrol said charges were filed against a 45-year-old Monroe woman involved in the accident.

According to GSP, the driver of A C15 Chevrolet failed to yield at the intersection, resulting in a collision with a Ford Taurus. The 69-year-old driver of the Ford Taurus was taken to Clearview Regional Medical Center for treatment. GSP said the accident is still under investigation.

In a separate incident, GSP reported that on the morning of Oct. 22, a juvenile driving a Chevy pickup truck struck a Toyota Rav. 4 while attempting to cross Highway 78 from Troy Smith Road. The Toyota was traveling eastbound on Highway 78. GSP reported that the driver of the Toyota was taken to Clearview Regional Medical Center for treatment. The juvenile was charged with failing to yield while entering/crossing a roadway.
