Few details are available, except that he was found on Wednesday night and is recovering in a hospital. Walton County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Keith Brooks confirmed that Dean was located in Atlanta after he placed a collect call to his father on Wednesday.

“We remained optimistic that this would have a good outcome,” Brooks said, adding that details are not clear on where Dean was during his absence. “But the good news is that he is in a hospital recovering now.”

According to an earlier report on CBS Atlanta, at the time of his disappearance Dean’s parents said he was in recovery from a surgical procedure a year ago and needed medication to stay healthy. Dean is the stepson of Karen Dean, director of Walton Animal Guild. Dean served three years in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg in the mid-1990s.
