UPDATE: This event was postponed due to the rain. It is now scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 9, 2013.
Join the community at the Historic Courthouse in downtown Monroe at 6 p.m. on December 9, (new date) 2013, for a special Christmas Tree lighting.
Hosted by Monroe Downtown, the 2013 Christmas Tree Lighting is a way, through the American Cancer Society, to honor loved ones near and far who are currently battling, have won, or have lost their fight against cancer.
The community is invited for an evening of hot cocoa, Christmas Carols and family fun. Anyone can participate in a Luminaria Service by making a $5 donation for a purple ribbon to place on the tree or $30 for a keepsake ornament to take home. These are available at Buckles Hardware and City Hall. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
Save the date: 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, Historic Courthouse, Downtown Monroe.
