Thousands lined the streets of Monroe Thursday for the annual Christmas parade. The weather cooperated with mild temperatures and no sign of the predicted rain.
The pride of Monroe, the Girls Drum and Bugle Corps that began in 1949, were the grand marshal with many members coming from all over the United States for the parade. Some of the members were from the inaugural core group of 1949.
