Wreck in Walton County results in DUI arrest

In a very busy day for members of local law enforcement on Jan. 16, 2014, one of the wrecks worked resulted in a power outage for people in Walton County. It also resulted in a driving under the influence charge for the driver.

According to a report from Walton County Sheriff’s Office, the wreck happened at about 8:15 p.m. on Emmett Still Road. The driver, Joshua Daniel Stiles, was already out of the gray Toyota Tacoma when deputies arrived, and power lines were allegedly all over the road and the power pole was down.

While interviewing Stiles, deputies reported a smell of alcohol and he reportedly admitted to drinking two margaritas. He agree to a field sobriety test, which he reportedly failed, later testing at .120 and .116 grams on the Intox 5000. He was taken to Walton County Detention Center where he was charged with DUI, failure to maintain lane and passing in a no passing lane.

Walton EMC were called to replace the broken power pole to restore power to some in the immediate surrounding area.
