Fall Festival includes Paws in the Park

This year the Fall Festival in Monroe is going to the dogs, literally, but in a good way.

On Oct. 11, the morning starts with the first Paws in the Park event at Childers Park. This will include a 5K run and a 2K dog walk. The Fall Festival in Downtown Monroe will follow.

Paws in the Park is in support of the dog park planned for Childers Park.

“Our budget for the dog park includes fencing for an off leash area in the wooded portion of the park, a watering station for pets, additional seating, doggie clean up stations, and an original sculpture commemorating the dog park,” said Sadie Krawczyk,  Monroe’s economic development director. “Our goal is to sell 200 pet bricks to raise the funds.”

If you want to help with funding for the dog park, you can purchase brick in honor or in memory of a beloved pet. The bricks will be 4 “ x 8” and will cost $75. Click on this link to see the clipart images available and to find out how to have your pet make his or her mark in the park.

Summer’s almost over, but not quite. More details will come about the Paws in the Park and the annual Fall Festival in the coming weeks.
