If you missed out on Movies at the Mill in the summer of 2014, there is good news. It is returning at the end of the month. What a way to end the Summer of 2015.
According to a press release, the Monroe Cotton Mills will be hosting two great summer events on Friday, July 31, 2015, beginning with Food Truck Friday for the lunch hour from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Food trucks will be parked on the front lawn of the mill and tables, both indoors and out, will be set up allowing folks to enjoy a nice lunch on the lawn or in the cool of the A/C. Following that, attendees are invited to take a stroll through the Vintage Revival Antiques or The Cotton Depot. You could even challenger your co-worker to a quick game of cornhole before heading back to work!
Later that same evening, the Food Trucks will be back for Dinner and a Movie! The Monroe Cotton Mills will be hosting the second annual Movies at the Mill that Friday night on the front lawn of the Mill. A large HD movie screen will be set up on the front lawn of the mill to show this year’s movie, Big Hero 6. According to the release, adults and kids alike will LOVE this fun-filled touching story about the special bond that develops between an inflatable robot named Baymax and his young friend Hiro who team up with their friends to form a band of high-tech heroes that save the world.
But organizers stress that Movies at the Mill is about a WHOLE lot more than just the Movie. The festivities will begin at 6:30 PM with South Madison Avenue being closed to vehicular traffic to allow plenty of room for the evening of fun for the whole family. Country music singer Dustin Bragg will perform live on the big stage from 6:30 to 8:30 and the Food Trucks will be back to serve dinner for everyone from 6:30 to 9:30 PM (CASH OR CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED). And if all that isn’t enough, there also will be street vendors offering shave ice, popcorn and other fun-filled treats for kids and adults alike! There will be face-painting, jumpies and other exciting activities for the children, along with beer and wine sales for adults (CASH OR CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED).
The movie will start PROMPTLY at sunset and will conclude at about 10:20 PM. Make sure and bring your lawn chairs or blankets. Proceeds from the event are being raised for ConnectAbility Inc., a non-profit that serves the needs of special needs children and families throughout north Georgia.
