Eagle Scout project provides little free libraries in Monroe

Caleb Thomas came up with a idea for his Eagle Scout project that would help readers in Monroe. He has installed two “little free libraries” in the Art Garden next to the Monroe Art Guild as well as in the Pilot Park.

According to his presentation to the Monroe City Council, Thomas said these little libraries provide access 24/7 for people who may not have money to purchase books or a library card to borrow books. It also benefits those with no transportation to the library or a bookstore. The idea is when you take a book, you replace it with one that you have finished.

Thomas was assisted in this project by family members as well as other scouts from Boy Scout Troop 705 of Monroe.
