UPDATE: Inmate hangs himself in Walton County Jail

UPDATE: Walton County Sheriff’s Office confirms that Jeremiah Grover Jamison was arrested on May 5, 2015 and was facing felony charges of aggravated battery, two counts of aggravated assault, sodomy, false imprisonment, two counts of probation violations and misdemeanor charges of theft by taking and battery. He would have had his 38th birthday on July 1. Please note an arrest and charge does not constitute a conviction.

Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman confirmed that an inmate of the Walton County Detention Center committed suicide Monday night. Chapman said a Sheriff’s Deputy noticed a towel covering the door and when he checked, he found the occupant, Jeremiah Jamison, 37, had hanged himself with his bed sheet. Chapman said Jamison would be 38 either today or tomorrow.

Chapman said the GBI is handling the investigation.
