The Georgia Department of Transportation is warning that there will be some road closures in Monroe next week for filming, weather permitting. According to a press release, the westbound entrance ramp from State Route 11/N. Broad Street to SR 10/US 78/Monroe Bypass are scheduled to be closed for filming Monday, Nov. 2 and Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Monroe. Signs will be in place from Thursday alerting the community about the filming and ramp closure.
Traffic will be directed to access the Monroe Bypass on the west end of town using Charlotte Rowell Blvd or SR 10 Business/US 78 Business/West Spring Street. Filming and the detour will occur 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. This is a closed set and no one will be allowed to watch filming. Local law enforcement will be in the area assisting with traffic control. Speed limits have been reduced and, according to the Georgia DOT, will be strictly enforced. Message boards, signs and blue lights will be utilized to alert and channel motorists onto the detour route.
According to officials with the city of Monroe, the movie being filmed is Bastards staring Owen Wilson and Ed Helms and featuring Glenn Close and Terry Bradshaw.
