The long awaited opening of Dunkin Donuts and the re-opening of Taco Bell in Monroe took place this past weekend, but there are a few more new restaurants that are still not quite ready to open the doors.
Moe’s Southwest Grill is expected to open early in the New Year and is currently hiring staff. There also are two new Mexican restaurants in the Great Oak Center that are just awaiting permits in order to open.
Cocina Fuentes Mexican Restaurant obtained its spirituous liquors and beer and wine permit from the City of Monroe at the December City Council Meeting. Cocina Fuentes is located in the restaurant space vacated by Robisons BBQ in March this year when the owners retired.
At the other end of the strip is Salamandra’s Mexican Restaurant. According to the Facebook Page, at the beginning of the month it was still waiting on permits to begin serving in the Monroe area. Salamandra’s closed its Grayson location in August and will be opening up in Monroe as soon as the permits are issued. In the meantime, it has been offering catering and use of the restaurant free of charge if Salamandra’s does the catering. To follow the progress, like the Facebook page.
