An Arbor Day Celebration will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Childers Park in Monroe.
An Arbor Day proclamation will be presented and the Georgia Forestry Commission will recognize the City’s recertification as a Tree City USA. Joan Scales, Sustainable Community Forestry Program Manager with the Georgia Forestry Commission, will demonstrate tree planting and discuss maintenance practices, after which volunteers will plant and mulch trees in the park. Tools will be provided.
Childers Park is on Spring Street next to the Monroe-Walton County Library. Attendees may park behind the library by entering the parking lot from Washington Street. Please contact Crista Carrell, Monroe Tree Board, email@example.com, for more information.
