COVINGTON, Ga. An adult and two children were killed following a collision with a school bus in Newton County Monday afternoon.

“This crash occurred on SR 162 at Spring Valley Way. Initial indication is that a school bus was traveling southbound on SR 162. A BMW passenger car was traveling northbound on SR 162. The BMW crossed the centerline and struck the school bus head-on,” Watson said. “There were no children on the bus.”
Watson said the bus driver was not injured, but the adult driver and two juvenile passengers in the BMW were killed. The BMW had five occupants.
“The adult front passenger was injured and airlifted to Atlanta Medical and another juvenile passenger was injured and taken to Egleston,” Watson said. “Troopers advised that none of the occupants in the BMW were restrained and that no alcohol/drug use is suspected.”
Watson said the report is not yet complete as troopers are still investigating the crash. The names of those involved will be released once confirmation is obtained that the next of kin have been notified.
