2017 brings with it the first hint of snow in the local area

It is still 10 days off, and weather forecasts can often change in less hours than that, but the National Weather Service in Peachtree City has used the S word in its weather forecasting for the local area before the end of the first week of 2017.

According to weather.com, there is a possibility, although only between a 40 or 60 percent chance, of snow over the weekend of Jan. 7 – 8, 2017. According to the forecast, with a high of 46 and a low of 31, rain could begin the morning of Saturday, Jan. 7, turning to snow and continuing with snow showers into Sunday.

I guess we can hope for better odds than the pollsters had with this year’s election. In the meantime, we can expect rain and scattered thunderstorms to usher in the New Year. With such a dry 2016, maybe that’s a good thing.
