The Georgia Bureau of Investigation report that a 14-month investigation has led to the arrest of a Monroe man. James Steven McDaniel, 33, of Monroe is facing nine counts of child pornography charges.
“In November 2015, the Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) initiated a child pornography investigation involving McDaniel. During the case, GBI Agents seized computers and electronic devices. A forensic search of the devices found numerous images of child pornography linked to McDaniel,” said Bahan Rich, deputy director of the Office of Public Affairs for the GBI. “The GBI and the Walton County Sheriff’s Office arrested McDaniel on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017. McDaniel is charged with nine felony counts of Possession of Child Pornography and two felony counts of Distribution of Child Pornography.”
McDaniel was booked into the Walton County Jail where he currently remains without bond. Rich said that the case will be turned over to the Walton County DA’s office for prosecution.
