Update: 47-year-old Monroe woman arrested following weekend fire

Walton County Sheriff’s Office confirm that a 47-year-old Monroe woman was arrested at the scene of a fire on Hemingway Drive over the weekend.

“This case is an open investigation,” said WCSO deputy Lora Stamey. “I can tell you that Lisa Marie Okelley has been arrested and charged with theft by taking and arson.”

O’Kelley is listed as living at 1216 Old Monroe Madison Highway of Monroe. According to jail records, she was arrested at 4022 Hemingway Drive on Feb. 4, 2016. Walton County Fire Rescue responded to that location that afternoon to find a home fully involved by the time they arrived. The house was completely destroyed.

O’Kelley remains in Walton County Detention Center on $45,000 bond.

Update

Walton County Fire Rescue said the home was a total loss. The four residents were not home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Initial story

Walton County Fire Rescue has crews on the scene of a working house fire on Hemingway Drive in Monroe. According to Battalion Chief Craig League, a neighbor called in the fire and the home was well involved by the time the 911 center got the call.
