Following an executive session at the end of the Monroe City Council February Called meeting, the Council voted to give Logan Propes, the city’s finance director, a stipend of $2,000 per month until a new city administrator is named.

“Logan Propes is in charge of day to day activities for the City,” said City Councilman Larry Bradley.
Propes has been appointed as the point person in the absence of a city administrator following the termination last month of  interim city administrator Ron Rabun.Rabun was hired in May 2016 to replace former city administrator Matthew Chancey who resigned in January last year to take a position with Edward Jones. Monroe Mayor Greg Thompson said the city would conduct a search for a new city administrator, but in the meantime Propes has been appointed to help co-ordinate the day-to-day operations of the city. Although he will not be the city administrator, he is someone for department heads to go to for the day-to-day operations until a new city administrator is hired. However, it is possible that Propes could apply for the position himself.

“The position has been advertised and a consultant is receiving applications. Everyone is eligible to apply,” Bradley said.
